Did you know there
is nearly two seconds difference in reaction times between an older driver and a
young driver?
Its often the younger
driver who through inexperience freezes!
The older more
experienced driver will most likely know what to do, avoid the situation and
live to see another day!
Eighty percent of drivers
think they are good, almost all crashes are due to driver error, this does not
add up! The majority of drivers NEVER take further instruction having passed
their basic (novice) driving test, yet road conditions change as does the
Highway Code.
We all develop bad habits
and 'pub-law' is NOT the way to learn of new driving techniques! An hour (or
more) with a qualified Advanced Driving Tutor costs - NOTHING! (see costs
below).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Advanced driving (or
riding) is FUN, can save on fuel and wear, can lower insurance costs, gives
confidence, and.... Can lower journey times!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Tutors give their time
for free, there is a registration fee if a driver wishes to go through the
course of ten pounds, that's right £10.00!
Manuals will cost about
£20.
The test is based on the
‘Roadcraft’ system of car control as taught in Home Office Approved Police
Driving Schools, and all the Examiners have undergone specialised Police
Training and hold Advanced Driving Certificates. The test, which does not
have to be taken, is about £50 and is conducted by a Police Class One (Advanced)
certificate holder.
The certificate awarded
is a recognised (accredited) Advanced Driving (or riding) qualification, the test standards
being set by the DSA, the same people who do the basic driving test.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WHAT ADVANCED DRIVING IS
NOT!
Advanced driving is not
defensive driving. Advanced Driving is MORE, it's for enthusiasts and those who
wish to be competent. Defensive Driving is part of Advanced Driving, but is not
limited to defensive driving only.
If it's only a basic
defensive driving course you want, we will be glad to assist, you will though
need an up to date edition of the Highway Code.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who can benefit?
Everyone!
Younger drivers lack
experience having passed the basic driving test, they will be challenged by a
variety of driving conditions including motorways to a standard higher than
required for the basic test and also a higher standard than that of Pass-Plus,
being a genuine Advanced Driving Course (which Pass-Plus is not).
Mums and dads can help by
getting their children to do Advanced Driving in return for helping with
insurance and other costs, driving is expensive, but
Advanced Driving Instruction is NOT!
Older drivers benefit
having learned through time bad habits and gaining misunderstandings. This is
natural but is easily remedied.
Professional drivers
wishing to gain extra qualifications and improving their CV.
Enthusiasts who wish to
undertake one of the High Performance Courses, which are based on Roadcraft.
There is NO ONE who
cannot benefit!
All the tutors who
undertake Advancing Driving Instruction are monitored and have to do
reassessments and tests to retain their certificates.
You too can become an
Advanced Driving Tutor, please ask for details.
