Woodwalton Fen

The nature reserve, one of the oldest in the world dates back to 1911, started by a member of the Rothschild family, the lodge (bungalow) built on stilts to avoid flooding. It is still used for teaching.

The land was formerly natural swamp and marsh, being at about sea level. It is being encouraged to return to its natural state.
