The company is owned and managed by Keith Sisman, RoADA (Dip.), IAM

Keith has over a million miles of driving experience with motor cycles, cars and light commercials. He has owned a garage with his father (Central Garage, Ramsey), and has worked in PR in the motor trade, for magazines and manufacturers.

Keith is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, having passed their test, using a manual gearbox.

Keith has also passed the RoSPA Advanced Driving Test at Gold, in both automatic and manual gearboxes, people carriers and cars, this is considered the highest level test available in the UK, if not the world today for civilian drivers. This test has to be repeated every three years to retain this qualification.

Keith also holds the RoADA Diploma in Advanced Driver Instruction, which is a residential course and examination. The diploma has to be re-tested and hence renewed every three years. It is considered the highest qualification in the UK (if not the world) for instructing in Defensive and Advanced Driving skills. This qualification is accredited at BTEC level three and is recognised by the DSA. Keith undertakes regular driver assessment with all Batemans drivers.

All our drivers must pass the Advanced Driving Test with RoSPA and this is a condition of their employment. Each driver retakes the test every three years, all being RoSPA members.

The School Run Company provides safe transport for school children throughout Cambridgeshire.

All our vehicles carry fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

Child seats are supplied when required and drivers and escorts trained in their use.

All staff are Police vetted, and checked under the children's act, prior to being offered employment, a policy we have had since 1990!

Drivers and escorts attend regular first aid training and hold first aid certificates.

All drivers receive ongoing instruction in Defensive and Advanced Driving Techniques with regular assessment to deal with the modern road and traffic environment. This is both in 'the classroom' and practical 'on the road' driving. All our drivers take the ROSPA Advanced Driving Test, with a serving Police Traffic Officer. Further tests are carried out at three yearly periods. In between tests, ongoing assessment drives and classroom lectures are held.

What is Advanced Driving?

The agreed definition of advanced driving made in 2000 from 'The Driving Standards Agency' agreed with Institute of Advanced Motorists, RoSPA, and others is the following definition of advanced driving:

"Advanced driving is the ability to control the position and speed of the vehicle safely, systematically and smoothly, using road and traffic conditions to make reasonable progress unobtrusively, with skill and responsibility. The skill requires a positive but courteous attitude and a high standard of driving competence based on concentration, effective all round observation, anticipation and planning. This must be co-ordinated with good handling skills. The vehicle should always be at the right place on the road at the right time, travelling at the right speed with the correct gear engaged and can always be stopped safely in the distance that can be seen to be clear."

All drivers tested and hold current Hackney Carriage and Private Car Hire Licences.

All our vehicles are registered with Huntingdonshire District Council as Private Hire Vehicles.

All vehicles are fitted with up-to-date hands free cellular car phone kits, a policy we have had since 1988, when our first car kit was installed!

Calls are limited to less than 60 seconds, and are for;

Traffic news, passenger cancellation or changes, request to respond to another vehicle in trouble.

We do not use car phones for general conversation and enquiries, we are professional drivers, not telephonists or call centre operators!

Drivers and escorts are mature family people, who have the ability to take safe care of children, a policy we have had since the 1960s (we did not do school work before then!). All are trained and receive courses for their work and related issues. We are a local company, doing this work in Cambridgeshire for over forty years.
