Below, a little history of Batemans -
Batemans of Huntingdonshire Est. 1919
(The School Run Company)
Batemans was established 1919 by Mr Bateman, a well known architect who amongst many projects was responsible for the design of Cambridge Railway Station. Bateman Street opposite the Station entrance was named after him.
The Business was joined by Mr Payne who previously had been working for in Russia, but left due to the problems there.
Batemans first operated from the Eastern Station Yard, Ramsey. In 1932 the business moved to Central Garage, Whytefield Road, Ramsey. Today the business is owned and operated by Keith and Sarah Sisman in Upwood. Therefore Batemans has a long established reputation within the local area.
The main thrust of the business today is providing safe home to school transport for various local authorities in the Cambridgeshire area.
The Photograph below shows a funeral procession in 1950s, the three cars belonged to Batemans, the lead car being driven by Mr Payne.
